What is it?
Popularly known as “Meals-on-Wheels”, this federally sponsored home delivered meal service is a national program administered locally to deliver well-balanced, lunchtime meals to frail, homebound individuals who are at least 60 years of age. Elders are asked to make a $3.00* donation per meal to help defray the cost of the meal.
Eligibility
Clients must be 60 years of age or older, home bound (unable to leave home without assistance due to illness, disability or frailty) and unable to prepare a meal. A client’s ability to drive his/her own vehicle will preclude eligibility for Meals on Wheels.
Delivery
Meals will be delivered between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday, except for legal holidays. Meals may not be delivered due to inclement weather. Our policy states, if the weather is bad, we do not ask our volunteer drivers to deliver meals. The Board of Health does not allow us to leave a meal if a recipient is not home, as well as not allowing a meal to be left outside.
Types of Meals
Diabetic and no-salt-added meals are available upon request. Menus will be delivered on a monthly basis. To See the most recent menus click here
