Contact Veterans' Services

Description
Every City and Town in the Commonwealth is required by MA General Laws, Chapter 115, to have a Veterans’ Service Officer, either part time or full time as defined by the population of the community.

The Town of West Boylston has a part time VSO, who is available Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and is available by appointment outside of those times.  The Veterans’ Officer’s office is on the second floor of the Town Offices.  An elevator is available for those who have difficulty climbing stairs.  Please call 774-261-4025 to discuss your needs and make an appointment.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Veterans' Service Officer include providing information, advice and assistance to veterans and their dependents to enable them to obtain State and Federal benefits to which they are, or may be, entitled.  These benefits include employment, vocational or other educational opportunities, hospitalization, medical care, burial as well as pensions and compensations.

All veterans have the right to file for Massachusetts Veterans Assistance through the Veterans' Agent, but must first be qualified according to MA General Laws, Chapter 115, before any aid is granted.  The State Commissioner of Veterans' Services is the final authorizer for all monetary requests.

The Veterans' Service Officer works closely with the State Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) as well as with other VSOs in Worcester County.  Please contact the Veterans’ Service Office to request help in understanding your benefits, obtaining applications or completing forms.  We are pleased to answer any questions or set up an appointment if needed.
