Responsibilities
The Open Space Implementation Committee is responsible for implementing the recently updated Open Space and Recreation Plan. The plan was approved by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs on August 22, 2018.
The members of this committee are appointed by the Town Administrator. The committee consists of a representative from the Conservation Commission, a representative from the Planning Board and five residents, each appointed for a 1-year term. At the November 6, 2013 meeting of the Board of Selectmen, the Board agreed the change the membership of the committee by changing a resident slot to a representative from the Parks Commission thus reducing the number of residents to four. The Open Space Implementation Committee meetings are held quarterly, as needed.
Mission
The Mission of the Open Space Implementation Committee is to maintain a balanced approach to provide safe open space and recreational opportunities for active and passive activities, to provide a safe and adequate water supply, to enhance the Town character, and to support opportunities for agriculture and wildlife to flourish in a fiscally-responsible manner.
