The Open Space Implementation Committee was originally called the Open Space Advisory Committee. One of the recommendations of the September 27, 2002 Open Space and Recreation Plan was to have the Town Administrator appoint a permanent Open Space Advisory Committee to develop overall plans and implementation strategies for open space, including implementation of the Open Space and Recreation Plan. Prior to this committee, in February of 2000, the Town-Wide Planning Committee appointed an Open Space Preservation and Environmental Protection Task Force subcommittee and asked it to update the town's 1996 Open Space and Recreation Plan. The committee's name was changed to the Open Space Implementation Committee in 2009.
