Firearms Permits/Applications/Information

Due to a high volume of applicants, permits are not processed on a walk-in basis.

If you are seeking a renewal or new permit please follow these steps:

Applications can be received through Mass.gov portal or the paper application is available in our lobby.   

A member of the department will call you back and schedule an interview appointment.

Failure to allow adequate time for a renewal is not considered to be a hardship.

When you arrive for your scheduled interview appointment bring the necessary fee(s).

Once you have been processed there will be a wait period while your information is checked through national law enforcement databases.  This could take up to three months.
