Projects

Projects the Historical Commission are currently working on include

  • Listing the Mount Vernon Cemetery and Holbrook Chapel in the National Register of Historic Places.

The National Register of Historic Places is the federal government’s official list of historic properties worthy of preservation. Buildings, districts, structures, sites, and objects can b e listed in the National Register, either through individual nomination or, if appropriate, through National Register historic district nominations.  Listing in the National Register provides national recognition of the importance of a particular resource and assures protective review of federal projects that might adversely affect the character of that resource.
