Van Rider Rules & Expectations

1. Please keep in mind that the van service provided through the WRTA for West Boylston Seniors is PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.  At times it may be necessary for clients to go for rides in order to pick up/deliver other passengers.

2. Please do NOT give verbal or written requests to our drivers. Their job is to safely transport riders to and from their destinations. Under WRTA policy, drivers are not allowed to make scheduling changes. ANY and ALL requests for transportation or rescheduling of transportation must be made through the dispatcher. To reach the dispatcher, please call 508-752-9283.

3. Drivers have a one-hour window in which to pick riders up, in order to get them to their scheduled appointments. This means that if a rider has a 10:00am appointment, that rider is required to be ready for pick up by 9:00am.

4. When our van driver arrives for pick-up, riders have 5 minutes, maximum, in which to board the van.  If the rider has not boarded within 5 minutes, the driver will contact the dispatcher and he will be instructed to proceed to his next appointed pick up.

5. Van drivers will only pick up and drop off where it is safe to do so.  Property conditions are not the responsibility of the van provider.  You may be asked to change loading/unloading area to ensure your safe transport as well as the safety of the drivers.

6. All carry-on packages are the soul responsibility of the riders.

7. No food or drink or smoking is allowed on the van.

8. All riders must wear safety belts while the bus is in motion.

9. Drivers are not allowed to leave the bus unattended.

10. If a rider needs to be accompanied by a companion, the dispatcher must be notified in advance.

11. All wheelchair riders must have a lap belt on their chairs while riding on van.

12. Our van is on the road from 8:30 am until 2:30  pm.

13.  WRTA fare information can be found on our Van Fare Information page.

14. In order to cancel a scheduled trip, riders must call WRTA (508-752-9283) at least one hour before scheduled PICK UP TIME. Failure to do so will result in a “No Show”. If you have three (3) no shows within a three-month period, you will accrue suspension of van service of up to 30 calendar days.

15. Drivers will only take you to your pre-scheduled destination.  In order to ensure your safety and the timely pick up of other passengers, drivers are not allowed to stop or bring you to a different address.
