Marcia Cairns, Chair of the West Boylston Housing Authority, Selected as MassNAHRO’s Board Member of the Year

West Boylston, MA.  Marcia Cairns has been selected as the 2022 Massachusetts National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (MassNAHRO) Board Member of the Year, a prestigious recognition awarded to one Board Member out of the over 260 housing authorities in the Commonwealth.  Ms. Cairns was recognized at the 2022 Annual Conference & Exhibition at the Sea Crest Hotel in Falmouth, MA on May 23, 2022.  Marcia Cairns has been a member of the West Boylston Housing Authority (WBHA) since 2009 and has been Chair of the Board since 2017.  The WBHA has been managed by the Leominster Housing Authority since November of 2017.  Marcia has been significantly involved with the West Boylston community and advocating for public housing. 

Marcia has lived in West Boylston since 2002 and along with holding the position of Chair of the WBHA, Marcia has been on the Affordable Housing Trust committee for three years (assisting for ten years), is Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee, and a member of the Massachusetts Council on Aging.  Marcia recently attended a four lunch-hour trainings, to support local affordable housing efforts, offered by Mass Housing Partnerships; Affordable Housing Trust and Community Preservation Act Conference.

Over Marcia’s career she has been a member of the National Nurses Honor Society, served 12 years on the United Cerebral Palsy of Boston (last two years as Chair of the telethon), and on the Board of the Worcester Regional Transit Authority.

The Leominster Housing Authority manages Lunenburg, Sterling and West Boylston Housing Authorities.. Each of the four housing authorities is governed by a separate Board of Commissioners. The Leominster Housing Authority also manages the Leominster Development Corporation (LDC) and the Allencrest Academic Learning Center. The main administrative office for all our housing authorities and the LDC managed by NCM Housing Authorities is located at LHA Office, 100 Main Street, Leominster, Massachusetts 01453.
