Trash Program Statistics

West Boylston started its Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) system of collecting trash and recyclables in Fiscal Year 2009.  After a few years of informally keeping track of statistics showing how the program was doing, the Solid Waste Advisory Team (SWAT) developed a Spreadsheet titled “West Boylston Trash Program:  Tons, Costs, Recycling Rate” in FY 2012.  It enabled SWAT to evaluate the program better and to make yearly comparisons.   Is our trash tonnage going down so that our costs will decline?  Is our recycling going up so that our costs will decline?  Is our trash program costing the town more or less than the prior year?  These are some of the important questions this spreadsheet answered.  It has been completed each year by SWAT and includes the previous year as a comparison.  For an explanation of the fields, please see below.
