Mass General Laws, Chapter 32B, Section 3 requires that there be established an Insurance Advisory Committee.

Membership
The Committee shall consist of eight members, seven persons to be appointed to membership on such committee by organizations of the employees affected and one person who shall be a retiree of a governmental unit who shall be appointed by the Town Administrator, each appointed to three-year terms. Alternate members are non-voting members. Only in the absence of the regular member of their organization, are they allowed to vote.

Duties
The Committee shall provide recommendations on group health insurance plans to the Board of Selectmen and provide information to and recommendations from municipal employees on group health plan benefits.
