Mission
Under the Wetlands Protection Act (Massachusetts General Law 131, Section 40), the Conservation Commission has jurisdiction over all of the wetlands in West Boylston (including streams, lakes, reservoirs, ponds marshes and swamps) and all land within the 100 foot buffer zone adjacent to the waterways and wetlands. Under this law, the Conservation Commission is charged with protecting these natural resources to prevent pollution, protect drinking water, to improve flood control, to protect wildlife and to protect fisheries. With our close proximity to the Wachusett Reservoir, many areas in town are particularly sensitive. More
The Conservation Commission was established by town meeting vote on April 24, 1972 under Article 6 with the acceptance of Section 8C of Chapter 40 of the Mass General Laws. The Commission is made up of seven residents and three alternates, each appointed to three-year terms.
