Due Dates

Real Estate
Real Estate bills are mailed out twice a year with two quarters sent in each mailing.  First mailing goes out at the end of June and your taxes are due in August and November.  The second mailing goes out at the end of December, with your taxes due in February and May.

Real Estate bills are due on August 1st, November 1st, February 1st, and May 1 of each fiscal year unless the due date falls on a weekend or holiday.  It that case, the due date is the next business date.

If real estate taxes are not paid on time, delinquency or demand bills are sent.  Please see Delinquent Taxes for more information.

Personal Property
Personal Property Bills are mailed out only once a year at the end of December and they are due February 1st and May 1st of each fiscal year, unless the due date falls on a weekend or holiday.  In that case, the due date is the next business date.

If personal property taxes are not paid on time, delinquency or demand bills are sent.  Please see Delinquent Taxes for more information.

Excise Tax Bills
Excise bills are mailed out several times during the year depending on when your car is registered.  The registration of a vehicle triggers the bill process.  First, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will send a tape to the assessor’s office listing your name, place of garaging, mailing address, date of registration, type of vehicle, date issued and assessed value of vehicle.  The tax collector then will send a tax bill to the registered owner of the vehicle. The first mailing is usually in March for anything registered as of January 1st. The other mailings are generated throughout the year depending when the Registry of Motor Vehicles sends the files to the towns.

Excise tax bills are due 30 days after the date that the bill was issued. Please see Delinquent Taxes for more information.
