Emergency Alerts To Keep You Safe!

Alerts Before Concord Tornado Allowed Residents to Take Shelter

This week's tornado in Concord demonstrated the importance of receiving Emergency Alerts.  The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) issued a memo outlining how residents can receive two types of emergency notifications on most newer cell phones.  Please review the attached document for more details.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs)

Most newer cell phones are WEA-enabled.  WEAs are generated by the National Weather Service and MEMA for severe weather warnings or other imminent threats and hazards.  No special service is necessary.  Please review the settings on your cell phone to confirm that you will receive these messages.

Massachusetts Alerts

This app is used by MEMA to send real time notices and emergency information such as severe weather, Amber Alerts, information in an emergency, etc.  It is available on the Apple Store and Google Play.

CodeRED Emergency Notifications

The Town of West Boylston will issue emergency notifications when necessary through the Emergency Communication Network.  These notifications are based on location.  It is important that your contact information is registered with the system, especially if you have an unlisted telephone number, use only a cellular phone or are a business owner in town.  Please visit our Emergency Notification page for more information.
