DO I NEED TO HAVE (3) LICENSED DRAINLAYER BIDS?

• Attempt to get at least (2) price quotes for your sewer connection to ensure that you get a competitive price.

• If one or more drainlayers did not respond to your request for quote, document which drainlayer(s) did not respond on Form A (Bid Selection Form).

• If you want to use a contractor other than the lowest bid, please specify who you would like to select & why.

WHAT PAPER WORK DO I NEED TO COMPLETE TO CONNECT TO SEWER?

AFTER I TURN IN MY PAPER WORK TO THE SEWER DIVISION, WHAT HAPPENS?

• The DPW/Sewer Division will contact the pre-plumbing inspector.

• The pre-plumbing inspector will call you to set up an appointment to come to your home to inspect the plumbing (no charge to you).

• After your plumbing has been inspected, you should hire a licensed plumber to complete plumbing work, if necessary.  If plumbing is determined necessary the drainlayer can not connect your property to sewer until a licensed plumber has pulled a permit in the building inspector’s office 508-835-6091, completed the necessary plumbing and had his work inspected by the Town Plumbing Inspector).  If plumbing is not necessary you can contact your drainlayer to inform him that your pre-plumbing inspection has been complete.

• Drainlayer pays the drainlayer fee in the Sewer office & completes the sewer connection at your property.

• Drainlayer submits an as-built drawing and signed Board of Health abandonment form to the Sewer office.

HOW OFTEN WILL I GET A SEWER USAGE BILL?

Quarterly, postcard sewer bills will be mailed out in January, April, July, and October.

HOW IS MY SEWER BILL CALCULATED?

For residential properties with one water meter we bill you based on 80% of your water usage.

Example:  If you used 20,000 gallons of water for the quarter:

20,000 gallons multiply by .80 (80%) = 16,000 gallons then multiply by $.0089439 (sewer rate per gallon) = $143.10 (amount of sewer bill)

WHAT IF I THINK THE WATER USAGE ON MY SEWER BILL IS INCORRECT?

Your sewer bill is calculated based on 80% of your water usage.  The Sewer Division receives your water usage information from the West Boylston Water District.  If you feel your water usage is incorrect please contact the Water District at 508-835-3025.

WHERE DO I PAY MY SEWER BILL & WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?

The Treasurer Collector’s office collects all payments.  All payments are due within 30 days or interest will be added.  They are located at 120 Prescott Street, West Boylston.
