The Town Scholarship Committee consists of the Superintendent of Schools, or his designee, and no fewer than 5 residents of the town who are appointed to a 3-year term by the Town Administrator.
Mission
The mission of the Town Scholarship Committee is to facilitate and oversee the funds coming into the town for college seniors or any West Boylston citizen going to college.
Creation
The Town Scholarship Committee was established by vote of town meeting on May 18, 1987 under Article 15, acceptance of Chapter 194 of the Acts of 1896. An Act Authorizing a City or Town to Establish a Scholarship Fund. Acceptance of this provision authorized the town to designate a place on the municipal tax bills, so that taxpayers can voluntarily check off, donate and pledge an amount to the scholarship fund. The funds are deposited into a special account in the general treasury in the custody of the treasurer who invests the funds with the Trust Fund Account in long term investments
