500-Yard Swim Physical Fitness Test

If your fitness program primarily involves swimming, you will find a swimming endurance test useful.  A regulation 25-yard pool is recommended, and you will need a friend to time you. You may swim any stroke, although best results will be obtained with the front crawl.

Goal:  To swim 500 yards as quickly as you can.

Directions:

1.
Warm up.
2.
Have a friend time you and count lengths. In a 25-yard pool, 500 yards is 20 lengths.
3.
Record your time, and your exercise pulse, cool down, and stretch.
