1.5-Mile Run Physical Fitness Test

The 1.5-Mile Run Test requires six laps around a standard quarter-mile track, or it can be done on a measured section of road. Consider taking this test only if you have been exercising previously.

Goal: To run 1.5 miles as quickly as you can

Directions:

1.
Locate a standard quarter-mile track or measure a section of road that has few stoplights.
2.
Have a stopwatch or a watch with a second hand.
3.
Before taking the test, warm up with walking, stretching, and a slow jog.
4.
This is a test of your maximum capacity, so do the best you can. Push yourself to cover the distance as fast as possible without overdoing it.
5.
When you complete the 1.5 mile distance, record your time and exercise pulse and then cool down with walking and stretching.
