Important Change in the Annual Town Election Date
The date of the Annual Town Election is regulated by General Bylaws Article I, Town Meetings and Election, Section 1. The Town currently holds its Annual Town Election the first Tuesday in April. Town Meeting Action, contingent upon Attorney General approval, has voted to amend this section at the November 9th adjourned session of the October 19, 2009 Semi-Annual Town Meeting. It was unanimously voted under Warrant Article 2, to strike out the first sentence of Section 1 and replace it with; "The annual town election shall be held on the first Tuesday in June each year."
The Town Clerk's Office received Attorney General apporoval of this bylaw change on Feb.11th. The new General Bylaws will be in effect once it is posted and published by the Town Clerk's Office pursuant to G.L. c 40 section 32. The Annual Town Election date will change to the first Tuesday in June of 2011.
