The establishment of the Celebration Committee was by vote of the Board of Selectmen on April 22, 2009.
Membership and qualifications
The Celebrations Committee is made up of three residents, each appointed to three-year terms by the Town Administrator. The Committee coordinates the annual Memorial Day exercises and other Celebrations. The Celebrations Committee is also authorized to expend monies from the Celebrations Revolving Fund to pay for the expenses and costs necessary for the annual Memorial Day Observance and other Celebrations and Observances as deemed by the Board Selectmen including, but not limited to, the purchase of supplies and services, excluding full and part time employee salary or wage costs. The fund is also the depository for all gifts, donations and fees collected by the Town for the sole purpose of financing the costs of the Memorial Day Observance and to be the depository for all gifts, donations and fees collected by the Town for the purpose
of financing the costs of other Celebrations and Observances as deemed by the Board of Selectmen.
