As you may know it has been five years since the Town has undertaken the drafting of a Town Mission and Vision Statements. As you may also know, the Town is once again revising its Master Plan.
The Mission Statement is usually the brief description of the overall purpose of the organization. A Vision Statement allows a group to draw upon their beliefs, mission and the general environment to describe what you want to see the organization like in the future, while being open to dramatic modifications to the current organization, methodology, facilities, etc.
This summer, I intend to begin our first review/revision of the Town’s Mission & Vision Statements and I intend to seek public feedback as well.
Our current statements are as follows:
Vision Statement
It is the Vision of the Town of West Boylston to make West Boylston the most ideal place in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to live, work, recreate, worship and raise a family.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of government of West Boylston to provide all of its citizens with the greatest possible spectrum of basic services, directed at publicly expressed community needs, at the least possible cost. ~This includes providing a wide range of high quality constituent service to the citizens of the community, continually support a strong economic base for the community, and continuing to work in the best long-term interests of the community while working as a team.
I would ask that any citizens interested in amending the Mission or Vision Statements of the town to send suggestions to me and I will share with the Selectmen when we work on this. I intend to have the discussion with the Board of Selectmen in August to review all of the suggestions and to reaffirm the Town’s Mission and Vision Statements.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
