Still Seeking Applicants to Oversee Building Maintenance Issues

As I wrote to the Town a couple weeks ago, I am still looking for applicants to serve on a new Municipal Building Committee to focus on the building maintenance of our municipal buildings.

Last year the Selectmen endorsed a plan I crafted to meet a request of the Board of Selectmen – find a dedicated revenue source for future municipal building repairs.  Out of that request came a vote at Town Meeting to seek a Special Act of the Legislature which would provide more immediate access to municipal building funds to repair our buildings.  The Selectmen brought that plan to Town Meeting and it was overwhelmingly supported by the Town and subsequently sent to the Legislative Delegation to seek legislative approval.

That approval came on April 23rd with the signing of the Special Act by Governor Patrick. You can view the legislation here:  [Link]http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/186/ht04pdf/ht04390.pdf

The committee is to be made up of the Chairmen of the Board of Selectmen, Library Trustees, and Finance Committee (or their designees).  I will also be seeking two citizens of the Town to sit on this committee as well.  The terms of the appointments will be for three years.

If any citizen is interested in serving on this important committee, I would ask that you contact me with your qualifications and interest in serving the town in this capacity or fill out an application to serve on a town board or committee (attached).
