Info about next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Wachusett Earthday, in partnership with the Massachusett Department of Conservation and Recreations and seven Wachusett Towns, will hold a collection of electronics, appliances and tires only on Saturday, February 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The collection will take place at the Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center at 131 Raymond Huntington Highway in West Boylston.  Residents of the towns of Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling and West Boylston are invited to participate.

 

The collection will be held snow or shine.  If there is a major storm check your town web site to see whether the collection is postponed.  

 

The items which will be collected for a fee are computer monitors ($5 per monitor), all TVs ($10 each), large appliances and metal machines including washers, dryers, stoves, hot water heaters and snow blowers ($5 each), items with refrigerants such as refrigerators, dehumidifiers, freezers or air conditioners ($15 each), tires ($2 per tire with or without rims, $10 per truck tire), propane tanks ($5 per 20 pound or smaller tank, $40 per larger tank).

 

The items which will be accepted with no fee are METAL items such as swing sets, small appliances, grills, lawn mowers, computer parts other than monitors.   Also accepted for no fee are mercury products such as thermometer and thermostats and the following batteries: rechargeable, button and all lead acid batteries. 

 

This collection will NOT accept other household goods or household chemicals or hazardous products.
