With the closing of the municipal offices at Mixter, there are still numerous items there to be disposed of. Under the law, items worth more than $500 must be disposed of through proper disposition processes. Other items are to be disposed of in a manner to be fair and provide the Town with the greatest opportunity for financial gain.
In that spirit I will be having a 'tag sale' for surplus items at the old Mixter Building at 120 Prescott Street. These are items with no immediate purpose at our new location at 127 Hartwell Street. Need a desk.? We've got them. Chairs? Plenty! Computer tables, window blinds, air conditioners, wall clocks, etc. No reasonable offer will be refused.
When is it? The Tag Sale will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 25th at Mixter.
How will it work? At the Tag Sale, items have been organized numbered. Some items are old office equipment and some are items collected by the Council on Aging over the years. Some very low value items will be cash and carry. Others will be offered to the highest offer to the Town. Some specific items (the air conditioners, for example) will have minimum bids. Proceeds from items purchased with Town funds will revert to the Town General Fund. Proceeds from items purchased by or donated to the Council on Aging to go to their gift account.
This is being done at this time in order to seal off the Mixter Building. I have had concerns about unauthorized individuals entering the building and we wish to take formal steps to seal the property until it can be torn down. Rather than have items of the Town stolen, vandalized or damaged by the conditions within the building, I am taking these steps now so as to protect the taxpayers investment in that building.
